Description
The Vasa Galleon, also known as Vasa Ship, is an extraordinary 17th-century warship that has captured the imaginations of visitors worldwide. King Gustavus Adolphus commissioned this magnificent vessel to symbolise Swedish naval power during the height of the Swedish Empire. However, fate had other plans for the Vasa.
On its maiden voyage in 1628, the Vasa Galleon tragically sank just minutes after setting sail. Lost to the Baltic Sea’s depths for over three centuries, the ship was rediscovered in the 1950s and meticulously salvaged. Today, the Vasa Galleon proudly stands at the Vasa Museum, offering visitors a mesmerising glimpse into Sweden’s maritime past.
