HMS Valhalla was an Admiralty V-class flotilla leader. She was named after the home of the Norse gods. She was one of 5 destroyers ordered in July 1916 and was built at Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead under the 9th Order for Destroyers of the Emergency War Program of 1916-17. Valhalla was commissioned into the Royal Navy on 31 July 1917. She was deployed in home waters until the end of World War I. In the reorganization of the Royal Navy she was assigned to the 6th Destroyer Flotilla assigned to the Atlantic Fleet and given the pennant number D44. She was recommissioned at Devonport on 5 January 1920, In the late 1920s she was placed in reserve at Rosyth. There is a photograph on the web of the ship at sea apparently with King George V and Queen Mary on board taken on 8th August 1921. She was re-commissioned again at Port Edgar by Edinburgh on 27 September 1923. In early 1925, she was operating with the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla. Again, she was re-commissioned at Devonport on 2 May 1926 for service with the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet and reduced to Reserve at Chatham on 27 January 1931. In 1931 she was stricken from the active list and scrapped.
