William de la Pole, 1st Duke of Suffolk, KG, nicknamed Jackanapes, was an English magnate, statesman and military commander. He dominated the government of the weak King Henry VI. He was held responsible for England’s defeats in the late stages of the Hundred Years’ War against France.
